Why is it so good?

Bord na Móna Growise Peat Free Multipurpose Compost with John Innes is produced from composted by-products of the forestry industry. It is enriched with additives containing all essential plant nutrients and trace elements, to ensure the healthy growth of plants at all stages of growth under normal growing conditions.

Instructions for use

Family gardening timeSowing seeds:

Fill the seed tray or pot evenly with compost and firm down lightly.
Sow seeds, following the recommendations on the seed packet.

Pricking out seedlings:

When seedlings are sufficiently strong to handle, prick them out into trays filled with Bord na Móna Growise Peat Free Multipurpose Compost with John Innes. Handle them gently by the leaves, taking care to avoid any damage to their stems and roots.
Plant about 5 cm apart and water thoroughly.

Rooting cuttings:

Fill a shallow pot or tray with Bord na Móna Growise Peat Free Multipurpose Compost with John Innes and gently firm the compost.
Insert the prepared cuttings and water thoroughly.
Maintain a moist atmosphere by covering with polythene. Keep the plants warm and do not allow the compost to dry out.

Containers and hanging baskets:

Fill the container with Bord na Móna Growise Peat Free Multipurpose Compost with John Innes. Line hanging baskets with moss or another suitable liner, ensuring adequate drainage holes, before filling. Water thoroughly after planting and ensure that the compost is not allowed to dry out.

Repotting plants:

Partly fill a pot (large enough to comfortably accommodate plant roots) with Bord na Móna Growise Peat Free Multipurpose Compost with John Innes. Ensure the plant to be repotted is well watered and then tap it out of its container. Position the undisturbed root ball of the plant in the new pot and top up with more compost. Gently firm the compost to ensure that no large air spaces are left around the roots. Water well and keep shaded until the plant is well established.

Tree and shrub planting:

Dig a hole in the soil at least twice the size of the root ball. Mix Bord na Móna Growise Peat Free Multipurpose Compost with John Innes with the soil in a 50 : 50 mixture and refill the hole around the roots. Firm around the base of the plant and water well. Keep moist until the plant is well established.
