Currently the new home of the world’s horse racing elite, Meydan Grandstand and Racecourse has marked a defining moment in the sport’s global history by hosting the richest, most illustrious race – the Dubai World Cup. This icon is also the world’s largest integrated racing facility, which comprises of a 1,750m all-weather Tapeta surface track and 2,400m turf track, providing unsurpassed standards in racing facility and technology for the ultimate horse racing experience.
Bord na Móna Horticulture was approached in 2009 for the supply of its high quality fine grade peat moss to construct the 2,400m grass track.
The process of incorporating Bord na Móna Irish peat moss into the sand base ensured superior rooting conditions for the grass roots and in addition, the superb structural stability of our peat moss meant it would withstand the rigours of both racing and climatic conditions in that region. The contractors and Maydan Management recognized the outstanding benefit that Irish peat moss would contribute long term to this prestigious project.
