This 27-square kilometre natural island is undergoing a remarkable transformation. In 2004, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) commissioned the Tourism Development Investment Company (TDIC) to make Saadiyat Island a world-class leisure, residential, business hub and tourist attraction of global proportions. Despite this large-scale vision, they are careful to create this signature destination with an environmentally sensitive philosophy.
In 2008 Bord na Móna was contracted to supply our fine grade peat moss for the construction of the greens on the Saadiyat course.
It was essential that high quality peat moss be used on such long term landscaping projects that could provide excellent levels of humic acid for better root growth. In addition the good buffering capacity of Irish peat moss meant grass roots would withstand changes in pH and salinity levels as a result of watering with water of high salt levels. It has long been recognised that for long term landscaping projects, peats of more decomposed qualities will maintain their physical and structural properties for longer.
